Bernice McClain Laney, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. She was born in Pageland, South Carolina to the late Shelton and Liza McClain.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Holland Funeral Service Pageland, 708 W. McGregor Street, Pageland, SC 29728. Ms. Laney will be laid to rest at High Point Church Cemetery immediately following the service.

The family will receive friends at funeral home prior to the service from 2:00pm until 2:45pm.

In addition to her parents, Bernice is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Hazel "Pete" Laney, daughter, Emma Jean Melton (Mack Melton); brothers, Floyd, Arthur, Hazel, Spofford, and William; and sisters, Saddie, and Louise.

Bernice leaves behind daughter, Brenda Cassidy (Darrell), son, Franklin Laney (Kathy); sister, Thelma Carnes; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Twin Pines Freewill Baptist Church.
