John Roger Greene, 76, of Pageland, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2027, following a brief health battle. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

Roger was born on January 17, 1950, to John Ellis Greene and Madge Elizabeth Greene. He spent 34 years as a machinist with Conbraco Industries in Pageland and was a well-respected auctioneer for nearly 40 years. He owned and operated Greene’s Auction in Pageland, a business that became an important part of his life and a place where he built lasting friendships with countless customers and fellow auctioneers.

Roger was not a particularly talkative man—unless he had a microphone in his hand. He truly loved the auction business and the people he met through it. Over the course of nearly four decades, he inspired many others to enter the auction business and was always willing to share his knowledge and experience.

A simple and easygoing man, Roger found happiness in the things he loved most: working on tractors, farming, visiting other auctions, and spending time with his family. His family meant the world to him, and he especially cherished the special bond he shared with his granddaughter, “Ellie.”

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, John Ellis Greene and Madge E. Greene; his sister, Betty Deason; his son-in-law, Bryan Williams (Lisa); and his beloved daughter, Stephanie Renee Greene.

He is survived by his son, Shane Roger Greene (Amanda) of Pageland, SC; Lisa Williams of Matthews, NC; his beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth “Ellie” Greene; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and the many friends he made throughout his life—thousands of people whose lives he touched through his work, his friendship, and his love of the auction business.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Holland Funeral Service in Pageland, South Carolina, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Family and Friends are welcome to visit at the home of Shane and Amanda Greene, 1289 Smyrna Church Road, Pageland, South Carolina.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland at 11:00 AM.
