Max D. Evans, 89, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2026. He was born in Pageland, South Carolina on February 14, 1937 to the late William and Mildred Evans. Fondly known as "Boss Man", Max was a hard worker. He was a dedicated manufacturing superintendent for over 30 years before retiring. Additionally, he was a farmer. Max could often be found working with his tractor and tending to his beloved cows. Max was also a man with an infectious sense of humor. He once told his family that he received so many seat belt tickets, that he wore his seat belt even in the cow pasture. Above all else, Max loved his family, especially his grandchildren who all had designated jobs given to them by Max. He will be cherished in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 3:00pm on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at Holland Funeral Service Pageland, 708 W. McGregor Street, Pageland, SC 29728. Mr. Evans will be laid to rest at Philadelphia Baptist Church immediately following the visitation.
In addition to his parents, Max is preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Loree Evans, daughter, Sharon Evans Nicholson, granddaughter Brittany Nicholson and siblings, Harley Mae Demby, Loree Langley, Bonnie Harpe, Yvonne Strawn, Ernie Evans, and Ben Evans.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Patricia Wallace (Eddie), siblings, Ted Evans, Coy Evans, Jean Rhodes (Paul), and Don Evans; grandchildren, Brandon Wallace (April), Joshua Wallace, Nicholas Wallace (Kasey), James Nicholson (Ana), Grant Nicholson (Emma); ten great grandchildren and son of the heart Andre Singleton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church.
